about

Recorded in a Quebec basement between 1997 and 1999, the 5 previously unreleased tracks from this EP are the result of the first musical experiments of Arnaud Lazlaud, aka Xavier Paradis who would, a few years later, participate in the renewal of the synthwave scene with his project Automelodi. «Between the hallucinatory romanticism of a vanished adolescence and relics of a disillusioned science-fiction, - failing to pay homage to a future that obviously would never exist - it maybe dealt with developing a folklore of the impossible ».
These songs, carefully remastered by DeA (from Luminance) and released for the first time in a physical vinyl edition,
have inspired a series of « record-objects», all unique pieces that unfold like small expressionists « shadow theaters » , evoking the futuristic, urban and melancholic universe of Arnaud Lazlaud’s songs, mixing sharp angled cut-outs to ink drawings or collages emphasized with spray paint. Like corpses, recomposed by a disturbed surgeon and waiting for the shock of the lightning to get up ...
The record, is released in 100 copies
and available in two editions: 20 unique pieces in the form of a three-fold cardboard sleeve binded in black textile and inside garment consisting in original ink drawings, spray painting and collages. The 80 remaining discs are presented in a lighter «Standard» version, within a simple black cardboard sleeve (350g) with cut-outs and spray paint interventions (all artwork by Stephane Argillet Stereovoid from Peine Perdue).

about

Arnaud Lazlaud Montreal, Québec

Synthpop sans espoir, folklore juste impossible, noyé sous la neige, trop tard ou trop tôt... enfin pas aujourd'hui.
------------
(Some nice people have been asking me over the years to make some of my early recordings (made under the moniker Arnaud Lazlaud and produced between 1995 and 1999) available online.

I'm not considering reissuing everything from that era yet, but here's a selection.)
